Partnership Building Activities

Workbook Orientation: Workbook Orientation: Designed as the first step toward improved school-business partnerships whether you are enhancing a new or existing partnership. Provides an overview of the School to Work Alliance's partnership-building workbook and reviews key steps of effective partnerships. Click here for more information and registration.

Facilitators Workshop:Facilitators Workshop: In depth training for the school representative who will facilitate partnership building at his or her school. The workshop explores important themes of partnership development, planning, marketing and implementation, over the course of three sessions. Click here for more information and registration.

Graduate Session: Designed for participants who complete the Facilitators Workshops. Professionals come together to share experiences and solutions, learn about new resources and continue to hone their partnership development skills.

Career Zone Training: Career Zone Training: Computer-based workshop that introduces school staff to the free interactive career exploration website provided by New York State Labor Department.

Coalition for Career Readiness Work Group: Through monthly working sessions, staffed by the STW Alliance, a group of leading nonprofit organizations involved in career readiness activities work on increasing recognition for the importance of career readiness activities, find ways to cross-promote each other's program activities and advocate for increased business involvement in career readiness activities for New York City students.

Recognition Reception: This annual event is designed to recognize effective school business partnerships that support student achievement and career readiness, and raise awareness of the value of school business partnerships.

Business Issues Forums: The forums, targeted at business professionals, are designed to communicate emerging workforce issues and increase interest in partnering with public schools to support the development of career pathways into various industries.

Teacher Job Shadow Day: An opportunity for teachers to explore industries and companies to develop their knowledge of workplace requirements, and share what they have learned with students and colleagues.

Career Day Training: This training, conducted by the STW Alliance team, is designed to build the capacity of school professionals to organize a successful career day.
