The School to Work Alliance Welcomes Two New Board Members The New York Citywide School to Work Alliance is please to announce that Tom Vecchione, and Brian Cosgrove have recently joined the Board of Directors. Both men have corporate backgrounds. Tom currently is a Vice President at Gensler, the world's largest architecture and design firm. Brian is the Senior Director of Community Relations at Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC).
Mr. Vecchione is the founder of "The Education Initiative," an advisory council which partners Gensler with centers of education, cultural institutions, and philanthropic organizations in support of youth advocacy programs. He develops high school workshops with the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, Smithsonian Institution, and was an advisor to the Office of the Superintendent of Manhattan High Schools on career and technical education. Mr. Vecchione is also an active participant on the International Design Educators Roundtable, and a Juror for the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards and the Donald Brinkmann Scholarship Fund.
Brian has designed and implemented SIAC's educational initiatives that span all levels of education. He has assisted the New York City Department of Education in bringing systematic change to the educational process through technology. Specifically, he has participated in the redesign of George Westinghouse High School, and technology planning for Brooklyn Technical High School. Brian serves on a number of Boards of Directors and advisory boards, including Brooklyn Boys and Girls Club, NYC Workforce Development Corporation, Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, National Advisory Committee for the Ford Foundation on Economic and Community Development, and National Academy Foundation (IT Academies).
